Creature Feature: Another Nudi

This is another nudibranch, commonly called a sea lemon (Anisodoris nobilis). Nudibranchs are mollusks but lack shells like their distant relatives the turban snails. Many nudibranchs’ colorful costumes warn potential predators that they are poisonous or at least really bad-tasting.

This is a nudibranch or “sea slug” commonly called the ringed dorid (Diaulula sandiegensis). Nudibranchs, fondly referred to as “nudis” by Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve volunteer naturalists, come in a variety of sizes and colors and are a favorite find at FMR!
