Molting season is in full swing right now for the harbor seals.
This is the time of year that I generally see the most seals hauled out for the longest periods along the beaches at Fitzgerald.
This morning there are about 110 seals resting on the main beach!
We have observed several redcoats that are in mid-molt as well as two tagged seals. Please see the link below from our partners at the Marine Mammal Center for information regarding on-going studies on our local population.
